Iran director joins jury in Georgia

Iran Director Nima Javidi has joined the jury panel at the 19th Tbilisi International Film Festival in Georgia.

The Iranian director and screenwriter’s name has appeared at the jury panel of the International Competition section of the film event. Directors and producers from Lithuania, Georgia, Japan and France comprise the rest of the jurors.

Born in 1980, Javidi started filmmaking with a short film titled ‘Marathon Champion’ (2000). The first feature film that he directed, ‘Melbourne’, was a total success as it was premiered at the critic’s week in the 2014 Venice Film Festival.

The film was then screened at almost 60 international film festivals, the result of which was some 12 awards, including Best Film award at the 2014 Cairo Film Festival in Egypt and Best Script award at the 2014 Stockholm Film Festival in Sweden.

Javidi is a member of Asia Pacific Academy Awards and was a member of jury at the 54th Gijon Film Festival in Spain.

His latest movie ‘The Warden’, that has recently gone through editing stage, has signed up to attend the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Launched in 2000, the Tbilisi International Film Festival aims to introduce new works of high quality to the Georgian public and to the world.

The latest edition of the festival kicked off on December 03 and will wrap up on December 09, 2018.
